DEPARTMENT PROFILE

The Department of Mathematics is one of the Leading Departments in V.V.Giri Govt Kalasala, Dumpagadapa.

The department has its origin in 2001 when the college was under the affiliation of the Andhra University -Vishakapatnam.
The B.Sc course with Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science as combination was started in 2001 as self finance course. The guest faculty in mathematics used to run the course
The B.Sc course with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as combination was started in 2009 as conventional course. A contract faculty was appointed to teach mathematics and a regular post was sanctioned.
In the beginning the B.Sc mathematics students used to write their university examination in the year end pattern up-to 2011-2014 Admitted batch.
Later on the college was under the affiliation of Adikavi Nannaya university from 2012-13 admitted batch.
From 2015-16 admitted batch onwards the Adikavi Nannaya university introduced semester and examination pattern.
From 2015-16 admitted batch onwards “(CBCS) CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED” in every state university as a policy matter.
From 2015-16 admitted batch the mathematics syllabus was revised as semester system was introduced .
From 2020-21 admitted batch onwards the mathematics syllabus was again revised as per the NEP 2020.
In each semester continuous internal evaluation system will be followed under which 25 marks will be given to students based on their performance in mid examinations, assignments seminars and participation in extension activities. The students will write university semester examinations for 75 marks.

Vision:

The vision of the Department of Mathematics is to inculcate adequate Mathematical and Analytical skills to prepare students for their professional growth

To provide all possible Facilities to the students thus strengthening their capacity for cell learning and equip them for future Goals.

Mission:
- Adopting learner centric teaching & evaluation methods to make students acquire Mathematical & Employability skills .
- To get acquainted with the advances in the field of Mathematics.
- To develop analytical thinking in students.
