I am pleased to welcome you to the
website of Varahagiri Venkata Giri Govt. Kalasala, Dumpagadapa West Godavari District, A.P., It was established in 1974 under private management with a great vision and mission to impart higher education to the economically backward region and to transform it into a knowledge society. Then Former Minister and Freedom Fighter Sri Ch.V.P.Murthy Raju established this College . Hence the college is named as Varahagiri Venkata Giri Government Kalasala, as he placed names of National Leaders .
The college was taken over by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1977. Later it has got temporary affiliation to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam regularly . Later this College was taken temporary affiliation from the Adi Kavi Nannaya Univesrsity; Rajahmundry. The college when started in 1974 had only 2 groups with only 50 students. In recent years the college has introduced restructured courses with new departments such as computers as per the needs of changing times. At present the college has 4 groups. i.e B.Sc.(MPC), BSc.,(MPCs), B.A(HEP) &B.Com(General)
The motto of our college is “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve”. The ultimate aim and essence of education is learning to do good for society and learning to be a good citizen. As Ruskin rightly says:
“Education doesn’t mean teaching people to know what they do not know; it means teaching them to behave as they do not behave.”
Our vision is to transform this remote region into a knowledge society and make it a centre of excellence in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The college offers 4 under-graduate programmes in arts, commerce and science. Affiliation granted for B.A., B.Com., and B.Sc. courses was accorded by the Andhra University in the year 2008-09 . Due to establishment of new universities in the state the present first year batch students (2012-13) were affiliated to the Adi Kavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry, E.G.Dt.. In the next one year of time the college would completely be affiliated to the Adi Kavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry, E.G.Dt..
Our future plans includes starting a students’ hostel, setting up a multimedia language laboratory and full-fledged auditorium.
Setting new standards, Scaling new heights of excellence, and shaping the destinies of young men and women, the college has been marching ahead towards excellence.
The college website creation is aimed to provide the important information of our college to all the stakeholders from anywhere and at any time. This is another step in our march towards better service to the students and society.
